Karaoke is About as Popular as Food Here!!!
Another great week here in Korea!!!! This week was a ton of fun and full of great things!! The early part of week was spent with a lot of planning and prepping for our zone conference training which went really well. But even with having to dedicate a lot of time to planning we were able to still meet with a few of our great investigators! Such as a collage student (I don't know if I told y'all about him last time or not) but he committed himself to read the entire 1st Nephi in a week and he did it!! So we literally just talked about that and answered his questions and discussed 1st Nephi! It was great!! And I've actually been reading it in Korean lately so I was able to answer some of his questions about how it's written (because it is honestly written a bit weird) but I was able to explain Korean to someone who has Korean literature as their major so I'm just a little prideful about that. But he's so amazing!!
And then another one of our investigators came to church and all through out it he kept on making comments along the lines of, it feels like I'm home now, or I think this is what heaven will be like. He is super great and super prepared! And then some amazing stories like finding someone on the street and talking to them for 2 hours about the Book of Mormon but no time this week, sorry!
I love being a missionary even during hard weeks, but I do have to admit its even better on great weeks like this one!! That's all for this week!! Got to go quickly to soccer!!! (mission soccer day) Love you all!! Hope you have a great week!!
Love, Elder Lott
Question of the Week: We had an epic lip sync battle at the family reunion (Tiffany and Chad did Gangnam Style in your honor!) Is lip syncing or karaoke popular in South Korea?
Answer: Oh yes. Karaoke is about as popular as food here!!! It's insane!! You can't go two steps and not see one haha. Actually let me give you a visual picture; so if you stand on one corner in Korea I'll give you an idea of the average things you see: 1 chicken place, 1 Baskin Robins, 1-2 bread places (usually Paris Baguette or Tour le Jours), 2-3 churches, 2-5 Karaoke places, 1-2 glasses stores, and a few other things but that gives you a bit of an idea haha. Karaoke is really popular, if you ask the students where they're going if it's not home, school, pc 방, academy, then it's karaoke. There's even sometimes just little boxes that are coin karaoke places haha it's pretty popular. Tell Tiffany and Chad thanks for doing it (haha the real meaning of that song is interesting though.. haha).
