Power of the Book of Mormon
umm Where to begin.... Well, I'll start with a Chinese pastor I met on the train heading to a meeting at the mission home. Which is a long train ride. But I was blessed to talk with this man. He's super cool and his family history is pretty great. Talking with him on the train for over an hour was fun. I'm sorry my writing skills seem super bad right now everything seems disconnected but anyways. We talked and talked and I showed him the Book of Mormon and we talked about it and he was really interested!! And said he'd love to read it because in China he hasn't been able to read anything but the Bible. So we exchanged numbers and met him again on Sunday and gave him a Chinese Book of Mormon to read and talked a bit. And honestly it was a different lesson than I've ever taught before, 1 because he's a pastor so he already knows so much but was suuuuuuper open to learning more and 2 because he's Chinese he knew all the Chinese roots to the words that we were using because a lot of gospel words in Korean are based on Chinese characters (well the whole language is but especially gospel) and he was able to write them out and understand them perfectly and it was crazy to not have to explain them but have them explained in their deeper meaning to us. Super crazy and super cool.
And another story about the Book of Mormon (dang I've been learning the power of that book so much lately). We met a younger fellow and he practically committed himself to have the whole book read in a few weeks among other crazy things from that lesson. Sorry if this is disconnected or not really flowing good stories. English isn't really flowing in my mind today but I know the Book of Mormon is true!! It was translated by the power of God through His called Prophet Joseph Smith. I encourage you all to read it! And if you already are, to read it more.
Love you!!

Question of the Week: Did you celebrate the South Korean World Cup win over Germany, or was no one watching?
Answer: Yeah, people did get a bit excited but because they didn't move on they weren't overly excited as they could have been. Especially because they just swept it under the rug a week or two before they couldn't bring it out and celebrate that they won one game very much. haha I really wish I knew Chinese though!! I've ran into more people this week that speak Chinese as their first language than I have before! so if I had a bit of advice to give this week to y'all back home is to learn a bit of another language haha, still gaining more and more appreciation daily for languages.
my 동기 pday [motivation pday? In his personal letter he said that pday training went well, so that's probably what he's referring to.] |
I think I look good haha :) |
